Skeelz Account Deletion & Data Retention Policy
Request account deletion and understand what data may be retained.
Effective date: September 18, 2026 • Version: 2026-09-18
This Policy explains how to request deletion of a Skeelz account, what information is removed or anonymized, what information may lawfully be retained, and what happens to payments and subscriptions after deletion.
1. How to request deletion
The primary in-app path should be available from Settings → Account → Delete account (or an equivalently clear account-settings location). Users who cannot access the app may use the external deletion resource on Skeelz.ca or contact support@skeelz.ca from the registered account email. Skeelz may require reasonable re-authentication or identity verification to prevent unauthorized deletion.
2. What deletion covers
A verified account-deletion request is for the entire Skeelz account, including Client and Provider capabilities associated with the same canonical account. Skeelz will delete or anonymize active account and profile information that is no longer needed, including profile details, portfolio information, push tokens, and other account-linked data, subject to the exceptions below.
3. Information that may be retained
- Payment, refund, payout, tax, accounting, invoice, and transaction records that must be retained under financial or tax law.
- Records necessary to resolve an open project, payout, refund, chargeback, fraud investigation, safety report, legal claim, court order, or regulatory matter.
- Minimized records necessary to prevent a deleted or banned account from immediately evading a serious safety, fraud, or security restriction, where permitted by law.
- Security and privacy incident records required by law.
- Protected backup copies that remain until normal backup rotation or lawful deletion processes complete.
- De-identified or aggregated information that no longer identifies an individual and is maintained in accordance with applicable law.
4. Messages, reviews and shared transaction records
Deletion may affect content differently depending on whether it is part of another user’s transaction history, a dispute, a review, or a legal record. Where appropriate, Skeelz may anonymize a deleted user’s identity while preserving a transaction record or message necessary to protect the other party, establish what occurred, prevent fraud, or satisfy legal obligations.
5. Third-party processors
Where Skeelz has sent personal information to a service provider for processing, Skeelz will take appropriate steps to delete or cause deletion of information that is no longer required, subject to the provider’s lawful retention obligations and the nature of the service. Some payment and app-store records are controlled independently by Stripe, Apple, Google, banks, or payment networks and may be retained under their own legal obligations.
6. Sign in with Apple and social identity
If a deleted account used Sign in with Apple, Skeelz should revoke the associated Apple authorization token or credential where required by Apple’s account-deletion guidance and remove Skeelz’s stored identity link except for any record Skeelz must lawfully retain. Google or other identity links should likewise be removed from the active Skeelz account.
7. Payments, refunds and payouts before deletion
Deletion does not erase valid financial obligations or stop a payment processor from completing a pending refund, dispute, payout, reversal, or chargeback. Skeelz may delay final deletion of specific transaction records until the financial matter is resolved and required retention periods are satisfied.
8. App-store subscriptions must be cancelled separately
Deleting a Skeelz account does not automatically cancel an Apple App Store or Google Play subscription, including Featured Placement. To prevent future renewal, cancel the subscription through the applicable app-store subscription settings before or after requesting account deletion. Store refund rights are governed by the store’s rules.
9. Timing
Skeelz will process verified deletion requests without unreasonable delay. If a legal, security, dispute, or technical reason prevents immediate completion, Skeelz may retain the limited information necessary for that purpose and will inform the user where required by law. Backup copies may persist until normal rotation completes.
10. Irreversibility
Once deletion has been completed and data has been removed from active systems, the account may not be recoverable. A user who returns later may need to create a new account, and prior reviews, projects, messages, rankings, portfolio items, or Provider history may not be restored.
