Skeelz Cancellations, Refunds & Payment Disputes Policy
Cancellations, refund reviews, and payment disputes.
Effective date: September 18, 2026 • Version: 2026-09-18
This Policy governs cancellation and refund requests for ordinary client-to-provider project payments processed through the Skeelz Platform. Featured Placement subscriptions purchased through Apple or Google are subject primarily to the applicable app store’s billing, cancellation, and refund process.
1. Before payment
A Client may choose not to pay an accepted quote if payment has not yet been completed, subject to any separate lawful agreement the Client made directly with the Provider concerning cancellation fees, deposits, materials, or other obligations. Skeelz itself will not treat an unpaid quote as a completed Platform payment.
2. When a Skeelz refund request is available
The current standard Skeelz refund-request flow is available only for a project payment that the Platform records as paid and that has remaining refundable funds. An account may not open multiple active refund requests for the same payment. The current standard workflow requests review of the full remaining refundable amount; partial refund requests are not presently supported through the standard in-app flow.
3. Reasons Skeelz may consider
Refunds are not automatic. Skeelz may consider the status of the project, the agreed quote and scope, messages and evidence, whether work started or was completed, safety or fraud concerns, and applicable consumer law. Examples that may support a refund include:
- A duplicate, clearly erroneous, or unauthorized charge, subject to verification.
- The Provider states that they cannot or will not perform the paid work.
- The paid service was not delivered and the parties did not lawfully agree to a non-refundable amount for work or materials already provided.
- A material and documented departure from the agreed scope, where the issue cannot reasonably be corrected.
- Fraud, serious misrepresentation, or a safety issue supported by available evidence.
- Any refund or cancellation right required by applicable consumer law.
A change of mind after substantial performance, dissatisfaction that is purely subjective where the agreed service was performed, or a disagreement unsupported by available evidence may not by itself require a refund, subject always to non-waivable legal rights.
4. Review process
- 1. The Client submits a refund request and reason through the available flow.
- 2. Skeelz records the request and may place it under support review, especially for active, substantially performed, completed, disputed, or higher-risk projects.
- 3. The Provider may be invited to provide a written response and relevant evidence.
- 4. Skeelz may review project records, quotes, messages, payment status, moderation/safety information, and other relevant evidence.
- 5. Skeelz may approve, reject, cancel, or otherwise resolve the request in accordance with the transaction facts, payment-provider rules, law, and Platform policies.
- 6. If approved, Skeelz initiates the refund through the payment processor. Bank/card settlement timing is controlled by the processor and financial institutions and may take additional time.
5. Full versus partial refunds
The reviewed Platform implementation currently supports approval of the full remaining refundable amount through the standard administrative refund flow and rejects standard partial-refund approval. If Skeelz later adds partial refunds, the user interface and this Policy should be updated before that functionality is released.
6. Provider payouts and refunded transactions
A refund, reversal, or chargeback may reduce or reverse Provider proceeds. Where permitted by law and payment-service rules, Stripe or Skeelz may deduct the amount from available or future Provider balances, delay payouts, or take other steps required to reconcile the transaction. Providers must not retaliate against a Client for making a good-faith refund or safety report.
7. Card disputes and chargebacks
A cardholder may have rights to dispute a charge with their financial institution. A bank/card dispute is separate from the Skeelz support process and is controlled by the card issuer, network, and Stripe. Skeelz may provide transaction evidence to respond to a dispute where permitted by law. Opening a chargeback does not guarantee an outcome and may affect the related project and payout records.
8. Featured Placement and app-store refunds
Refunds for Featured Placement subscriptions purchased through Apple or Google are generally requested from and decided by the applicable app store under its policies. Skeelz does not promise that it can issue a store refund directly. Cancel an auto-renewable subscription through the applicable store to stop future renewal. Deleting a Skeelz account does not itself cancel the store subscription.
9. Consumer rights preserved
This Policy is a Platform process and does not remove a statutory cancellation, refund, chargeback, warranty, misrepresentation, or consumer-protection right that applies to the transaction. In Ontario, online consumer agreements may carry statutory disclosure and cancellation rights in certain circumstances; those rights apply regardless of any narrower Platform policy.
