Skeelz Payment & Payout Policy
Project payments, platform fees, taxes, and provider payouts.
Effective date: September 18, 2026 • Version: 2026-09-18
This Policy explains how ordinary client-to-provider project payments, Skeelz Platform fees, Provider payout routing, taxes, and payment corrections work. It does not govern Apple or Google billing for Featured Placement; those transactions are covered by the Featured Placement Subscription Terms.
1. Project payments
A Client may pay an accepted eligible quote through the payment flow made available by Skeelz. The reviewed implementation uses Stripe PaymentIntents and Stripe Connect destination charges. A payment is treated as successful only after the backend confirms payment status with Stripe; a client-side checkout-complete screen alone is not proof that funds have settled.
Skeelz does not represent that project payments are held in escrow. Funds may be processed, transferred, reserved, delayed, reversed, or paid out according to Stripe, card-network, bank, legal, fraud, or compliance rules.
2. Platform service fee
As of the Effective Date, the standard Skeelz Platform service fee is 15% of the eligible project payment and is deducted from Provider proceeds. The Client does not currently pay a separate general Skeelz Platform fee in addition to the displayed quote total unless a different fee is expressly shown before payment. Skeelz may change future fee rates with advance disclosure; a new fee rate will not retroactively change an already accepted and paid transaction.
3. Provider Stripe Connect account
- Providers must complete the payment-service onboarding required for payouts, including identity or business verification requested by Stripe.
- Providers must keep payment-account information accurate and promptly respond to Stripe or Skeelz compliance requests.
- Skeelz may prevent payment acceptance or payout routing if a Provider’s connected account is not ready, restricted, disabled, or legally unable to receive funds.
- Stripe may impose its own terms, verification, reserve, payout, dispute, or account restrictions directly on the Provider’s connected account.
4. Payout timing
Skeelz cannot guarantee a specific bank-deposit date. Payout timing depends on Stripe’s payout schedule, transaction risk, reserves, weekends and holidays, the Provider’s financial institution, refunds, disputes, verification, and applicable law. A “paid” project status means the client payment has been confirmed; it does not necessarily mean the Provider’s bank has already received the payout.
5. Taxes
Providers are responsible for determining whether GST/HST, PST, QST, income tax, withholding, registration, invoicing, or other tax rules apply to their services and for meeting their tax obligations unless Skeelz expressly assumes a specific legal tax obligation. Skeelz may collect or report information where required by law. A tax field or default calculation in the app is not tax or accounting advice.
6. Payment corrections, refunds and chargebacks
Approved refunds, payment reversals, duplicate-charge corrections, card disputes, chargebacks, processor fees, reserves, or legally required withholding may reduce amounts otherwise payable to a Provider. Where permitted by law and payment-network rules, Skeelz or Stripe may offset these amounts against current or future Provider balances or take other steps required to reconcile the transaction.
Client refund requests are governed by the Cancellations, Refunds & Payment Disputes Policy. Providers must cooperate in good faith with refund and dispute reviews and provide truthful, relevant evidence when requested.
7. Payment safety
- Do not send full card numbers, online-banking credentials, one-time verification codes, or government identifiers through Skeelz chat.
- Use the Platform’s actual quote and payment records rather than relying on a message that claims payment is due or complete.
- Report suspected impersonation, fake payment links, stolen accounts, fraud, or unauthorized transactions to Skeelz promptly.
- Moving an active Skeelz transaction off-platform for the purpose of evading disclosed fees, payment safeguards, or enforcement may violate the Terms and Provider Agreement.
8. Payment support
For project-payment or payout questions, contact support@skeelz.ca with the registered account email and the relevant quote, project, payment, or refund reference. Do not email full card details or banking passwords.
